Connection to Community

My last post was about connecting to “Universal Consciousness” – which is God in all his/her various forms.  God is everything that is, including you.  That makes us connected to everything in the universe.  We supposedly are built in God’s image but what does that mean?  Does it mean that God actually looks like man?  No, God can take any form.  What it does mean is that man has the potential to develop his mind and become more Godlike, but in what ways?  How would the “Universal Mind” want us to develop?  Mankind has thought that power, money, beauty, things, and youth are the most important traits to develop.  This has brought us to the world we have today, where material things are equated with happiness.  But, material things do not last and the happiness they bring is an illusion.

Where is our compassion, love and sense of community as a whole.  Everyone wants his own children and society to succeed and have a happy life but we must learn to care about everyone’s children and all other sentient beings if we are to save our world.  Right now it can be said that man has really not been a good caretaker of this wonderful world of ours.  We need to develop a world sense of community that sees us connect to everyone and everything because we really are one.  I have heard people say that the only way our world would work as a unit was if aliens invaded us.  Do we really have to wait for that to happen?  We started out needing our fight or flight response to survive but now we need to develop our sense of community and compassion.  Religion often seems to separate us instead of what it was designed to do – show compassion and caring for each other and bring people together.

Our problems can no longer be solved through warfare, if they ever could.  We must learn to share with each other so the whole world can prosper.  Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, Vishnu and many other entities knew and taught us this.  They allowed their minds to be developed along the lines of Universal Consciousness, which is what God expects from beings built in his image.  This is who he is as a creator, designer and communicator of the universal and he expects us to become closer to him and to help him implement his plan.  We need to be in harmony with each other to do this.  Is it so difficult that we set aside our differences and take notice of our similarities and help each other to succeed?  Humanity needs to take a different tack if it is to succeed, otherwise we, made in God’s image, will go the way of the dinosaur.  This is not what “Universal Consciousness” wants and our energy will not be lost no matter what but what a shame if we are just part of that consciousness and not a physical part of God’s Universe.

Extremists on all sides must give up their egoic need to be right and work to make this world better.  Jews must learn to get along with Palestinians and give them what they need and deserve and Palestinians must accept the right of Israel to exist.  Extremist Christians must stop persecuting Muslims who must in turn stop calling the west the great Satan.  However, the west must also become less hedonistic and many Muslim societies might have to become less austere and treat women better.  Greater humanism is required by everyone and we must start tapping in to “Universal Consciousness” by developing everyone’s power to do so.  If we work as one, we can bring our world into a new renaissance of human development.
